The Developer Edition is free and fully featured, but limited to three concurrent connections and licensed for development use only. Use it as your standard development platform for as long as you like. 

To install the Developer Edition, run the installer you downloaded and leave the serial number blank during installation.

If you want to evaluate JRun in an environment with more than three concurrent connections, you can install a 30-day evaluation of either the Professional Edition or the Enterprise Edition by entering the appropriate serial number from the list below during installation: 

* Professional Edition Eval. Serial Number: JR300P1-0103-2343-7518
* Enterprise Edition Eval. Serial Number: JR300E1-0103-9823-4507

(NOTE: The Enterprise Edition ships with a license for Allaire ClusterCATS for JRun, which provides Web clustering capabilities. To evaluate ClusterCATS for JRun, download and install it after you've installed the JRun Enterprise Edition Evaluation.) 

To install a commercial license of JRun you need to purchase it from Allaire or an authorized reseller (see below). 

UPGRADING EDITIONS AFTER INSTALL 
After you've installed JRun 3.0 once, you can easily upgrade to another edition without re-installing by changing the serial number in the JRun Management Console (JMC). For example, if you're using the Developer Edition and you want to run the Evaluation Edition, simple enter the evaluation serial number in the JMC. After 30 days, it will revert to the Developer Edition (three concurrent connection limit). If you purchase a commercial license, you simply need to enter that serial number in the JMC to enable the functionality and activate the license.
